Privacy Policy — LetsTile
Last updated: June 11, 2026
LetsTile is a macOS window-tiling utility published by GOOEY TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED, a company registered in New Zealand ("we", "us", "our"). For the purposes of the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), and similar laws, we are the data controller for the limited processing described below.
This policy explains what data the App does and does not handle. The short version: LetsTile does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data, and it contains no analytics or tracking.
What we collect
Nothing about you, on our side. LetsTile has no account system, no server-side profile, and no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. All of your settings (grid layout, margins, per-display configuration, launch-at-login) are stored locally on your Mac and never leave it. Uninstalling the App removes its functionality; its local settings files remain on your Mac under your control and can be deleted at any time.
Accessibility permission
LetsTile requires macOS Accessibility permission to read and move other apps' windows — that is the core function of a tiling app. This access is used only to position windows on your own machine in response to your actions. Window contents, titles, and positions are never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
Software updates
LetsTile checks for updates using the open-source Sparkle framework. To do this it periodically requests a static update feed (the "appcast") and, when an update is available, the update file itself from our hosting provider (Vercel). Like any web request, this involves your device's IP address and a user-agent string that includes the app version. We do not use this information to identify or track you; the feed is a static file with no per-user logic, and we run no update analytics. The legal basis for this processing under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in keeping the App secure and up to date (Article 6(1)(f)).
Sparkle asks for your permission before it begins checking for updates automatically, and you can decline.
Purchases (LetsTile Pro)
LetsTile Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC), which acts as the Merchant of Record for the transaction and is an independent controller of the personal data it collects at checkout. When you buy Pro:
- Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment details, billing information, and email address. We never see or store your card details.
- We receive limited order information (such as your email address, order ID, and license key) solely to deliver, validate, and support your purchase. Under the GDPR, our legal basis for this is the performance of a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)).
- The App validates your license key against Lemon Squeezy's licensing API. This request contains your license key and basic activation information (such as an instance identifier), and no other personal data.
Lemon Squeezy's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. Lemon Squeezy is based in the United States, so purchase data is processed there; Lemon Squeezy is responsible for its own international-transfer safeguards as Merchant of Record.
Bug reports and support
If you use Report a Bug, LetsTile composes an email draft addressed to gooey.tech@gooey.tech containing diagnostic information — your macOS version, the app version, and your display/grid configuration. It contains no personal data beyond what is inherent in an email from you, and it never includes your license key. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the email yourself; you can review or edit it first. If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request and our legal obligations, and we use it for no other purpose.
Data sharing and retention
We do not sell, rent, share, or trade personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. The only third parties involved are Lemon Squeezy (to process purchases, as described above) and Vercel (which serves the static download and update files). We retain only what little we hold — order records and support correspondence — for as long as required for support, accounting, and legal compliance.
Your rights
Because the App sends us no data, in most cases there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. Where we do hold personal information about you (your order record or support emails), you have the right to request access to it, correction of it, or deletion of it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, the GDPR or UK GDPR (including the rights to restriction, portability, objection, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner), or the California Consumer Privacy Act (note: we do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA). To exercise any of these rights, email us; we will respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law. For data held by Lemon Squeezy in connection with your purchase, we will assist you, or you can contact Lemon Squeezy directly.
Children
The App is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version, and the current version will always be available at https://www.lets-suite.com/tile/privacy. If we ever changed what the App collects (for example, by introducing opt-in analytics), we would update this policy first and any new collection would require your consent.
